here's some pretty....

I think somewhere between having an artistic breakthrough and a breakdown....these new pieces (which a re limited edition prints) were born.

do you like them? They are still very new for me, I feel exposed and raw as they are not my "normal" style pieces.

so all you mommies out there, did you have a nice Mother's Day? I had a quiet day as my dear bubs was at work, but I did get a sweet gift and card from my puppy Scribble (yup, I'm one of THOSE people now). I spent the day watching Titanic and crying my fool eyes out, because sometimes you just need to cry while watching a sappy movie.

I also spent a good part of the day listening to tornado sirens and warning from the newsfolk that is was "time to get in the basement".

So all in all it was an oddball day.

I did get to have cake and ice cream though, which was pleasant.

oh....and I really, really have to give a huge (post) birthday shout out to Jody, who I adore!!! Love you birthday girl!!

Is this a vacation??

Good morning!

hope you all had a lovely holiday, I know I did....you see, though our family is far way and my darling bubs had to work I took.........time off....yup, I have been resting and resting.

Proudly proclaiming as I lounged on the couch that I was not going to do "anything".

well that's not entirely true, I did watch movies like Little Women, I did eat A LOT, I read books, we snuggled, we went to the movies, we tried to make cookies (they were a disaster) and had awesome conversations like this.

me- Do you think there is such a thing as a squirrel whisperer?

my bubs- what? like the ghost whisperer?

me- no like a horse whisperer

Bubs- like squirrel girl??

me- no.......you see I was watching the squirrels and I saw beauty (this is what I call the albino squirrel) on the roof of that house (this is when I pointed to the roof of a house 2 doors down) and then I said out loud "come here please" and even though I did not say it loud and I was inside, beauty came all the way over to our fence right away.

bubs- (he gives me a look that is part "you're adorable" and part "you need meds")

me- it's true it happened, I think she knows me.

so there you have it that was my couple days off, there were also gifts given and received both good and bad.

SO like with any days off I am finding it really hard to get back into wanting to do anything besides eating cookies, I was going to dance today but could not bring myself to do it, so tomorrow for sure I will, you all have to guilt me into doing it if I don't.

promise???

when is the last time you....

had a day off, I mean a real day off.

Are they rare? Or are people having them. You see I can hardly remember anymore.

For 2 years I owned the comic shop with my bubs, which means we had no time off ever, even holidays we either worked or did something that had to do with work, even if all it was, was worry.

Now that I am doing art full time, I feel like it is the same. Now, don;t get me wrong, I am not complaining at all....but it just got to me today, well really last night, that I could not remember a day when I did not do something work related.

now even on "day offs" before I do still check etsy repeated times a day (by check etsy I mean worry, deeply worry....why haven't things sold, and oh, so many things have sold....) I will also list or renew my listings on etsy just to be seen, and this is on a "day off".

On days that I have no time to create it is usually because I am packaging things etc. Now, this is when I begin to worry what it is doing to my brain, why is it I feel guilty when I am not doing "something", I think part of it is because I feel bad that I don't earn a "real salary" and we can never really count on what I make, as sometimes it fluctuates so greatly.

Last night my bubs and I ate dinner and then zoned out in front of the TV, and it was nice, we were playful and relaxed...I did still dash up to my studio a couple times to do the etsy thing, but I wonder if the night would have been just that much better if I did not run off like that.

what am I saying in this long burst of babble, well....maybe I am feeling a little burned out, not in that crazy dog day afternoon kind of way, but burned out enough to need a day where I do nothing at all, I just watch On Golden Pond and weep, or watch a thousand and one episodes of sex and the city.

I will say, I don;t think this fabled "day off" will happen until after Christmas, and that is fine, but it will happen, I am going to plan on it. The odd thing is, is that I remember having real days off when I had a day job, years ago....I would guilt free watch movies all day or just go shopping and out to dinner. I am wondering if that is what I essentially gave up in order to be able to do the art thing for a living.

so, the question was posed, when was your last real day off, where you did nothing except relax or hang out with friends and be social.

OK...babbling has commenced for the day, thank you for reading and humoring me.

ps- images today are of a new collage in my shop that I just love, I am hoping the colors look right on your monitors, I got a new monitor last week and the colors are way different on this, so I am having a hard time judging what is what online.

pps- um............I am "this close" to reaching 1600 sales, so I am offering 20% off all purchases until I hit 1600, and the lucky one who is my 1600th sale just might get lots of extra goodies!! Just write holiday07 in the message section and wait for a new invoice before paying.

a whole bunch of words and then an announcement

Bonjour!

Ca va? Ca va bien.

(hey remember when I was all about how I was going to teach myself French....well, you will be happy to know that no, I did not teach myself French in 10 minutes a day....I am a bad and lazy girl, I should get on that)

so, how are you? I took yesterday off from Studio time to enjoy the day with my bubs, we went out to Dick Blick where I spent, um....ALL my money, even splurging for the giant $30 container of matte medium, just to come home and realize that said giant bottle was never put in my bag, it was paid for, but not with me.

G- Damn it!!! Now we are going to have to trek back out there to fetch it.

Anyway, went to get supplies and then had a leisurely lunch in between going from one giant Halloween Superstore to another.

you see, I am in search for a jungle girl outfit, but they don;t have them anywhere, which surprises me, as the whole "jungle girl" theme is really in touch with the whole, slutty no clothes thing, which is most of the Halloween costumes.

Instead I found a lot of

slutty baseball girl
slutty witch slut
slutty slutty slut
slutty butty slut

and so on..................

I have wanted to be a jungle girl for 2 years now...damn, so far it's looking like another sad year, where I will just have to cave in and be "dark" Mary Marvel, and my bubs will be Batman, or I will go all out and be Little Red Riding Whore, or some other such slutty girl in a hood holding a basket.

Then last night I was going to watch the premiere of America's Next Top Model.....but then, well then we decided to make the long scary trek to Andyman's Treehouse so Keith could play the open mic and so we could spend some quality time with the power couple, Nick and Evie.

so, really...that left no time for creating anything new, I have a lot of pieces that are in various states of not finished but nothing really new to show off, to be all bragtacular about...

(yes, I realize bragtacular is not a word, but it is now).

So, that was my day, so today...........today I get to work, I spend time in my studio and ignore the sinus infection I know I have, I am going to work through the pain, like Rocky or something, I'm hardcore like that.

oh here is some exciting (to me, not you) news, I am almost at my 300th blog post....I know, crazy.

I am also almost at my 1400th sale on etsy (I know, even crazier).

So, part of me wants to have a contest, but I can;t think of one...but you all loyal blog readers deserve s little something for putting up with almost 300 posts of my blah, blah.....

SO here's the special something....

from now until I hit my 300th post or my 1400th sale I am offering all my blog readers 20% off all purchases in my shop.

Just write "BLOG LOVE" in the message to seller section and I will send you a new invoice!!

Until then, enjoy the newest piece in my shop, it's called "Like Flowers Fading Over Time"

The Perfect Day Off Goes Somehting Like This

Happy Thursday

So, my bubs had yesterday off from work so we decided to have a "real" day off...we decided to walk into Westerville and roam around the book stores and the antique shops. It was bliss, knowing we did not have to be anywhere or do anything, just walk and roam...

It started with a visit to the "nice" post office where everyone is friendly and they help you, also when there is a long line people don't start stealing stuff off the walls, like at the post office I usually go to.

Then we headed to a wonderful little used book place called "The Book Manor", now you need time to go through the book manor as it really does not appear to be in any kind of order, sure there are "sections" but those seem vague and there are books piled everywhere. I scored a good vintage Nancy Drew (I opted for The Haunted Bridge, rather than the Haunted Showboat)...then we wandered to an antique shop and then decided to have lunch.

We decided on The Old Bag Of Nails pub, because we have gone there for drinks a lot and the atmosphere is great....though much to my chagrin the menu reads like a vegetarians worst nightmare....there was nothing for me to eat.

Needless to say I ended up eating a plate of mozzarella sticks, I could have gone for a salad but you know me and the cheese.

now.....after the meal we wandered a bit more and actually made our way over to an establishment that I have been meaning to check out....now I don;t want to say the name, as I'm positive the owner "googles himself" an awful lot...and that's not all he does to himself I'm sure.

So anyway, I will just say that this is a theme bookstore...right when we walk in I am at once overwhelmed with the smell of cat. You know that mix of pee and funk that happens when there is a cat in a small space.

Yet...............the space was huge it being inside an old Victorian house. But why? Why would a bookstore smell like cat, so of course I don't edit my brain monologue and say out loud, "it smells like cat", and when I turn the corner I see....that there is a GIANT cat laying on the front counter almost hiding the GIANT man who was click clacking on the inter web right behind it.

ugh, it was not a pleasant site...now I really don;t have anything against cats at all, other than being deathly allergic to them, but why??? Why would you have a cat in a store....and why would a big building smell like cat pee so much.

I wander a bit as does my bubs, the place seems cool, but the kitty stink is overwhelming. The carpet is covered in cat hair, there are tumbleweed size cat clumps everywhere....and that's when we see it, a separate wing of the shop devoted to cats...a cat gift shop...and that room...the carpet looked white with cat clumps.

ugh, by then my throat is closing and I am fearing that we will need to rush me to the hospital, so I bolt from the cat haven, bubs on my tail (note the pun), then we are back into daylight and the normal world.

I turn to my bubs and say, I bet he lets his cat just pee all over him, and my bubs agrees and mumbles something about the man loving it...

it's all bad, it's awful.

From there we went in to a couple more places and then headed home to drop off goodies and then head out again to get ice cream so we could have a sitting on the front porch date together. I usually refer to them as "swing dates" but I was afraid if I wrote that you would all get the wrong idea.

So there you have it, a single day.

the photos today are of two collages I have done, based on the Romeo and Juliet ballet, they are listed separately in my shop but they look wonderful together.

OK, enough cat blabber for today....catch you all tomorrow.

xoxo

PS- yesterday I ate cookies for breakfast, then had cheese sticks for lunch, then had some root beer and then more ice cream with a cookie (as a garnish) last night....yeah, as you see there was no "dinner" on that list, nor anything healthy so I must drag my butt over to the exercise bike for a bit.

missing yesterday

Morning loves

hope all of you US people had a wonderful July 4th and the rest of my International friends had a most amazing Wednesday...

yesterday started with my bubs and I sleeping in....together, I know, I know something that never happens but for 2 times a month, so this was a bonus...

we knew we had a lot of nonsense that needed to get done during the day, but....we just could not bring ourselves to rush out the door so soon, especially after sating up sort of late the night before and having drinks outside because all the neighbors were away.

So after finally tearing ourselves out of bed we had to take care of nonsense....cleaning the house which we had failed to do post mean cheese, plus I had to package stuff, and then there were annoying business related things to be done...knowing my bubs actually had to go out Wednesday night it made the day feel a bit compressed.

Later in the afternoon as a treat for getting "real work" done we decided to go out for a while, my bubs went to the guitar store and "played" with the toys there, I will admit I know nothing about guitars except for which one I think is pretty or not, so basically he would play one I would say "that's pretty", he would play one...I would say"that's not as pretty" and so on and so forth.

I guess I was a good sport in the guitar store so after that we decided to go to Macy's...where I wandered around and looked at things and my poor bubs did a lot of "That's pretty", right back to me....I ended up treating myself to a new outfit, complete with the cutest top I have ever seen and a new skirt, sure I spent more than I "should" have, but at the time, I knew I needed them.

From there we hit Starbucks, Michaels for supplies, Target just to look around...then back home...last night when I was alone I really began to devour the book "The Ghost Orchid" and it is haunting me right now as I type this....will I have the will power to keep from reading it today??? Will I be able to get some work done???

ok truthfully I want to go back to sleep, you see my entire neighbor hood was lighting off fireworks non stop for the past two days, in fact someone in the neighborhood was setting them off until 2:00am...I kept peeking out the window to see who it was but due to sleepiness, alergy medicine, and a bit of the demon liquor....I could not tell where the noise was coming from, just that it was annoying as can be.

The piece I am showing today is something I am particularly proud of, I love the woman in it, and also was totally in love with the ghostly tree picture I found to use as a background. The piece is called "It Was Only Important To Smile" and is available in my etsy shop.

Tuesday is the new Monday

hi all

hope you all had a wonderful weekend, sorry for the no bloggy blog yesterday, you see I took a much needed mini mental health day...and I needed to be anti social to get everything done I needed to.

I worked from 8:00am-10:00pm last night making things and packaging a million things as well, after a shockingly good weekend on Etsy (I sold 30 things in 2 days!!) .

Thank you all for the compliments on the mirrors as well, you should see them in person, they take my breath away with how nicely they were done by kittycrossbones, (seriously she is a wonder!!). A lot of the mirrors sold already but I do have more to list as well so keep you see out.

ok as a type this it is a little after 7:00am and I am sitting in the cool of my air conditioned room, soon I will have to brave the heat and go into my working room to paint before it gets too hot...it was 97 here yesterday....and you can only imagine what it is doing to my hair...it's no good.

We even broke down and went to the grocery shop last night for some Frozen Yogurt...while there waiting in the checkout line, I noticed that they have spirited up the joint with various "gift baskets" I use the quotes and if you could see me I am rolling my eyes as well...you see these horrible things can only be described as "Ohio Gift Baskets"...seriously one of them was 2 bottles of Budweiser (in plastic bottles) 2 plastic cups, some processed meats in sausage form, but they were not cold...so that is definitely not a good sign, it also had 2 plastic cups and some peanuts.

I was mortified....how is that something that would pass for a gift basket....I know with it being Father's Day and all that is probably what they were going for, but my bubs had a good point, guys don;t want a gift basket....nothing with clear cellophane and a bow....please.

So that horrible meats and beer monster is probably what passes as a wedding gift here.

sigh.....we need to move to a better part of town.

seriously it makes me feel a lot less classy to see things like this, in fact it almost outrages me, lol...how can the 15th largest city in the country be this overrun with white trash hillbillies, I honestly wonder this.

ok, now I must brave the heat and humidity and work a bit before it gets to be 100 degrees...I will be cathing up on all your blogs today (promise!!!)

photos today are some new pieces, and mirrors...the search function on etsy is all messed up so it is sort of impossible to see the new pieces now, this is something I am trying my hardest not to stress about I know they are fixing it but at the same time...this is my job so not being seen makes it hard.

oh well, I promise tomorrow I will be very prepared with a great celebrity letter.

until then

xoxo

when is the last time I did work?????

good morning!!

Thank you to all my New York readers who read through my pile of hate yesterday, it is all tucked safely away inside my head again, so no fears.

How are you all?

So yesterday was a day off for Keith and I...well day off being all relative as there was tons to do, but there was also a bunch of time that I spent on the couch reading comics...

so this is how the day went.

Got up, wrote hate mail to Derek Jeter as my bubs got ready to go meet the UPS man and get our comics before heading to the old comic shop to see if they need help (they didn't...YAY) so he came home, we went through our order, dividing up what is just his, just mine, ours, and our friend Steve's. Once the division was done I noticed that on top of my pile was Strangers in Paradise #90...the very last issue of that book...ever.

This is when I start crying a little. I go to the couch and read the book, tears in my eyes the whole time....none of it even sinks in, so I have to read it again, then fully calm down, then read it one more time.

It was beautiful and a part of me will die every time I think that it will never come out again.

sigh....

We then read a bunch of other comics in a big binge (I never said I was not a dork). Once done I gathered up a small group of collages and headed over to The Frame Station to drop off work.

Once outside I realize it's hot...yucky hot...ugh.

So we make the trip over and once we get there, well I want to make an ok impression on these people, so I turn to my bubs and ask what I always ask..."Am I shiny" and his usual reply "I don't know what that means" (it means for the record...is my nose shiny, so I need powder). I flip down the mirror and yes...I am shiny, in fact I am sweaty....no good.

I quickly powder and we head in...my hair is both fuzzy with humidity and flat with heat...no, no no!!!

So I get there and the owner Melinda is wonderfully nice, and I also get to meet in person Megan from Moogan's Creations. Now, I read Megan's blog so I know she is funny, and smart, and I have lurked in her etsy shop so I know she is talented...but I did not know how adorable she would be...and there I am, with fuzzy flat hair, and all sweaty.

(yes, these are the things I think about)

So, work is dropped off, and then my bubs and I are on to the next errand, picking up prescriptions at the Pharmacy...and the usual "No, I don't have insurance" and the pity look from the pharmacy.

I know, I know, I need insurance but you see, I'm a starving artist.

so we head home for a bit, a late lunch and then I head over to the comic shop to meet Steve so we can be geeks for an hour or so...I know our conversations are probably only interesting tot he two of us, but trust me they are VERY interesting to us.

then Keith comes to the shop and we hang for a bit...he is going back and forth about playing at the Treehouse, he wants to and he doesn't...you see last week was not fun, and it was so hot...we would just go to bed.

But, we decide to go, hell...I could use a drink and I know he could too. SO we get there very early so we can ease into the night and that way my bubs can play early in the night and then we can leave.

So several drinks into the night I have this profound realization while reading the personals in the "Other Paper", more specifically I am not reading the Men Seeking Women, or Women Seeking Men, or Men Seeking Men, Or Women Seeking Women.

no I am reading the best part of the newspaper...I am reading "Other Variations" such as this little gem

"BABY ME, cross dressing adult baby willing to try anything new, open minded and willing to please"

or this

"Old Fashioned Spankings mature discreet PWM will administer to women of any age for discipline, stress relief, or pleasure"

I could go on and on....so my thought was, if the art thing does not work out, that I could read these ads to the blind, maybe that is my calling (or maybe that was the whiskey drinks talking...it is hard to say).

So my bubs played first and he was wonderful, and as we were about to bolt out of there, we noticed that the next act was not just a sad man with a guitar, but a three piece band out of Montreal (love the Canadians!) with a stand up base and a laptop.

we were intrigued so we stayed are were treated to the sounds of "Ghetto Pony"

they were fantastic, seriously I cannot rave enough, we even bought their cd. They were just 3 skinny white Canadians playing the coolest geek rock I have heard in well, forever....picture Weezer but more funk to it.

So you have to go to their myspace and listen to them, for serious...they are that cool.

After that we meandered home...long day.

Today there are things that must be done...I must package stuff, I must make new things not only do I really want to but my shop looks sort of sad right now.

Oh, and for those of you interested in pocket mirrors, they were shipped out yesterday which means they should be here on Saturday....now we have the mean cheese but I might be able to list some on Saturday night, watch the blog for more details, I will lit a couple each day.

OMG this post is so long, I am dreadfully sorry but I am very wordy today...ok truthfully I know I should be working out but but if I am doing this that means I am not doing that.

no one likes to do Cardio when it is already very hot at Chateau Stiletto.

sigh...big giant sigh....

oh, and the picture today was a pendant I made a few days ago, it is for sale in my shop, and it is Virginia Woolf

Happy Thusrday

ooh, good morning, as I type this I am snacking on pop tarts and drinking a now cold cup of coffee, but alas...too lazy to go and warm it up.

thanks everyone for reading my letter yesterday...and honestly, if someone finds Paris Hilton address for me and puts in in my comments, I will send that letter to her.

ok in other news...On Tuesday my bubs and I went to the Columbus Museum of Art, on a day date...it was nice, though the featured exhibit was really not my thing (Op Art of the 1960's) it was still a nice excursion.

My darling bubs had never been to an art museum before, he kept asking if there would be a "flume ride" as he loves those, and I just kept saying "yes baby I think it's in the next room"

I was going to take a ton of pictures, but with no flash and how dark they keep the rooms...they would all have just tuned out yucky...so I lieu of that, I decided instead to just take photos in the sculpture garden....

The first photo (at the top of the post) is of course a little SP of me and the bubs, a little kissy face ...we never have anyone to take photos of us, so all of our pictures are me taking them

Oh No....This Giant Bunny Is Coming For Us...Run...RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I assure you that though it looks like my bubs is going to fight the Pope, he tells me that was not what was happening, they were in fact playing "Rock, Paper, Scissors"...I think it was my bad photo angle that makes it look all the more menacing. I was inspired by the Op art Exhibit to change up the angle.
this one should be called...."Jenn Rips Off Monet", as some of you may know I have a "thing" for fountains, I love them, and it really takes ALL my willpower to not get in them. In fact there was a time when I had to be "removed" from the Fountain at Rockefeller Center. I am like a small child when I see them, all of a sudden I almost black out, and then....I'm in the fountain. The look of the water in this fountain is what kept me away.

also if you ever go into the fountain at Rockefeller Center, be warned...it is deeper than you think it is.

This photo is what I bought in the gift shop....this was of course after walking around with a fashion book for $70, a costume history book for $200, and another fashion book for $50...then I looked in my wallet and (huge melodramatic sigh) decided instead to get this little darling of a ring, for a mere $4 plus tax...sure it was in the kids section, but come on, it is too cool.

I feel like J.Lo or that poor wife of Kobe Bryant walking around with this ridiculous bling on my hand.

so, as a lot of you know, there has been a lot of blog tagging going around as of late, kind of like a case of mono in group of slutty friends...I love it, but alas I know it puts a lot of pressure on people, so I will not tag back.

this is a little tag called "4 things" which Karen Beth posted in her blog, very unofficially tagging people, but then later officially tagged me when I said it was cool.

Top Five

ok, this is not a tag or anything just an idea I stole from Jody who stole it from Alex, and since they are both cooler than me, I figured...hell, I've got nothing to blog about today, I'm going to steal that.

so.....here is my list of the top five things I love today

1 - as I type this I hear my bubs in the next room (who has the day off) playing his guitar and singing while working on a new song...there is nothing better on the world than that. He is an incredible talent though he says he's not...no matter how much I tell him he doesn't believe me.

2- having a day off in the middle of the week with my bubs when we plan a field trip to the museum, can you believe I have been here 3 years and have never gone??? Bubs is not overly thrilled with the idea but he did want to hang out with me...I am so excited, less because of the museum but more for the gift shop...you see I have an obsessive love for overpriced museum gift shops.

3- I am really enjoying my attempts at drawing, I'm still the farthest thing from a natural as you would tell from the giant pile of pages torn from my sketch book, but I am trying and I am proud of myself for trying. The photo I showed today is the larger drawing of "Proserpine" that is available in my shop.

4- I am currently totally addicted to watching Justice League Unlimited on dvd. The funny thing is this "kids" show is actually one of the best things that is comic related to come out in the past 10 years (besides spidey 1 and 2). You all know I am dorked up with the comics, but even if you're not, get this cartoon on dvd!!!

5- I slept until 8:35am this morning....and that my darlings was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

************************

ok that's it for top fives....I will be back tomorrow with a letter to a celebrity, I am torn a few ways right now.....Between Paris Hilton, Brad and Angelina, or Jesus...

we shall see.

yes, I have returned to you all

good morning....

how are you?? Sorry for the hiatus yesterday, but was feeling altogether swamped with packages and no new work to show you, plus I had a lunch date with Diana (she gave me Dior, I can take a day off for her).

Diana came over to look at some of my newer pieces and ended up buying something, then we headed into town and had a long and drowsy lunch sitting outside...

all in all it was very nice, now if only I could shake this damn cough I have, I would have been able to really enjoy it without thinking of the pain in my lungs...

anyway, moving on....I did get to work on some new pieces yesterday as well, so it was a day filled with stuff, sadly my bubs was at work all day and out last night so it seems that the day was filled with everything but him.

our weekend with the mean cheese was crazy as usual, the warm weather has increased her meany and cheesy nature, and she actually spent a good part of a rainy Saturday standing at the screen door with it's teeny view of the park next door, just screaming to go out.

I think we collectively signed "no it's raining" about 54655752324 times.

Oh, and after the lil cheesy left we treated ourselves to a movie date ang got to go see Spiderman 3, which for the record, I LOVED (and hated some small parts but that is me being too geeky), my poor bubs hated it, though they focused on the storyline that made him stop reading the Spiderman comics in the 1990's...

oh, and speaking of comics...Saturday was Free Comic Book Day, we were both supposed to go and do an even at a local shop, but with the mean cheese only Keith could go for a bit in the morning....though, while he was there he met...A comic book artist, who might just be willing to take a stab at my book...yes, you heard it here first, cross your fingers everyone, because there just might be a Stiletto Heights #4 coming out!!!!

Quick knock on wood I don;t want to jinx it.....I would have to pay him, but his page rate is "almost" in my budget, meaning I could actually afford him...yay.

oh, sorry loves, this post is all over the place, you see this morning when I woke all I wanted to do was go back to bed, and only come out when I was no longer coughing...I considered taking today off from blogging too, just out of sheer sleepiness....but no, blogging will not be the same as working out for me, where once you stop it is so hard to start again.

I vow to you all that I am going to get it in gear and get something going for a good celebrity letter tomorrow.

make sure to check out my shop later as I am uploading new pieces today...also I have decided that I am going to have my fashion illustrations be buy one get one half off, I really think they would be best framed and hung as a series so that makes the most sense.

ok, off to work (15 steps away and still in my jammies)

Day Off....

Don't fret, I will be back tomorrow...but due to a lunch date and a ton of stuff to package and things to paint, I am taking a day off from the computer...(I know I will cave in later and post on etsy and read all your blogs).

But...until then, enjoy the images from Picnic At Hanging Rock....which are serving as fantastic inspiration today.

thanks to Lou for giving me the movie....which I finally watched again this weekend. Be on the look out for some "picnic" inspired pieces in my shop this week.

Back to work

morning!!

wow, yesterday was a much needed little break for me, I did only the slightest amount of work...as many of you know I am a bit obsessive with my work load and find that I am working all of the time.

That is part of the downsides from working at home, I never take a "day off".

So yesterday my bubs and I went to a movie, we...The Reaping, which was....well it was exactly what were were expecting it to be. I love scary movies that mix bible anything into it...so when I kept seeing the previews for this and repeatedly the words "bible plagues" were said...well, I knew it was the movie for me.

Plus it took place in the swamps of Louisiana which is where "my people" hail from.

All in all it was good, fun and scary...not scary like The Exorcist but still very good popcorn turn off your brain movie , at one point I was watching the movie all balled up on my seat, barely peeking out over my knees. This is hard to do in 4 inch heels but I needed to.

I also had my hands up almost shielding my eyes...waiting, just waiting.

We were also the only two people in the theater so we got to just be sort of loud and funny during it.

all in all in was good, though...disclaimers being what they are, I was raised very catholic (I'm not anymore...but that's not the point), when I was little my mom gave me this "children's bible" that was filled with gory painted illustrations of the 10 plagues and all that, I was mortified and fascinated by this when I was small, so seeing this movie was like peeking back into the things that scared me when I was small.

Looking back, I don't know why my mom gave me such a frightening children's bible...but I guess she had her reasons.

After that we had a little lunch and just relaxed.

I think we needed it, you see my bubs and I are always doing stuff, even when we are home together, we very rarely take the time to just be, I am not sure why this is, but relaxation is always just out of reach.

I would like to try and work on that.

I know I get obsessive with my work because it is such an extension of me, of who I am...when I am having a good day work wise, I feel calm, secure inside.

Worthwhile.

But on days when I am suffering from creative block, or sales are down, well it's strange, I take it personally. I am filled with doubt and all at once I am insecure. This makes it very hard to be around me sometimes, those times that I am filled with "need" for reassurance.

That is what I want to work on, I want to just be me, with out the doubt. Is this even possible? I know everyone feels like this sometimes but is it possible to just be so at ease and comfortable with yourself?

Or is being an artist type something that predisposes you to this inner turmoil.

wow....I have no idea how this blog went from Bible plagues to insecurity.

maybe that is one of the plagues???

ok I should dash, I have photos to take of some new pieces as well as a couple things to finish up. I will be listing a set of Audrey Hepburn blocks later today!!!

I listed this set of blocks last night, it is a set of 5 blocks and it is up for sale in my shop.

until next time, have a very merry Friday The 13th.

Lazy Day

just writing a quick hello....there will be no blog entry today as my bubs has the day off and I am going to take some down time.

will be back tomorrow refreshed and ready to go. We are going on a date this afternoon to a movie show and lunch.

in the mean time here is a new piece in my shop, it is a double sided ornament of sorts, non holiday of course, perfect for any time of year.

also, thank you to Ben for being my 850th item sold on etsy last night...what a wonderful treat, I will have to include a special gift for Ben as a thank you!

oh and a HUGE thank you for all the letters yesterday, I think this was our best week yet!! I am also struck by the death of Kurt Vonnegut Jr right now, I'm thinking next week perhaps we should use the theme of writing to an author, either dead or alive.

until tomorrow loves.
