little update

I have just loads and loads of book reviews to start posting, been reading like a mad woman...

but first, I have done 3 new small original collages on canvas panel, they are all 5x7 in size. It has been ages since some small one of a kind pieces have been in my shop, so I am really excited about these. The first has already been listed and the others will be posted throughout the day.

um, is this thing on?

ok, I am breaking radio silence for the first time in approximately one million years...and here I am just going to post a bunch of pictures of things in my shop.

I know, I know...super lazy.

but bear with me, this is a baby step, me sticking my toe back in the tepid swimming pool that is my blog.

Anyway, do expect to see a touch more of me. There are adventures to be had and shared and by golly blog-landia I will be sharing them with you.

but for now....here is just a taste of what I have been doing. Tons and Tons of new card sets as well as new aceos on stretched canvas...they are completely adorable and I am totally in love with aceos all over again.

It's 8:04 am

It's 8:04am and I already feel as though I need ice cream, or alcohol....too early I know...

So far today I have dealt with a tiny sick puppy, yes he's sick again, you see he cannot eat anything foreign without getting VERY sick, so grass, a little dirt, a small piece of paper...all send him into a tail spin. This is not good when you have a lovely little puppy who has horrible OCD and must lick everything, even outside, hence the dirt and small rocks he eats when we go on our little walks.

it's breaking my heart, to see him feeling bad, his little puppy face.

I'm a mess.

So that's that...that has been my morning so far, not fun, not fun at all.

Anyway, I have some (what I think) is exciting news for my etsy shop...I have decided to do a new series, very much inspired by my friend Cat, you may know her as Artsy on etsy...well she has a series of "1000 pieces" all numbered, I think that is genius. I have been pondering doing something similar, you know as a challenge to myself. SO I thought about doing 1000 aceos, but wow....that seems like a lot, and I make aceos anyway, so it's not really different.

then I decided.

I have been working on the "new pieces" for sometime, the ones that are a mixture of digital and traditional collage, I showed one yesterday...and that is when it hit me. That is the plan....I am going to do 500 of them, all different all one of a kind, each will be printed just one time. They will all be 10x10 inches.

Because they will be printed once, they will be one of a kinds and original. Because they will be printed on archival and thick cardstock, it will give you a chance to own an original piece as a slightly lower rate than one of my traditional collages.

Exciting, huh?

Now, this does not mean that I will not be doing my traditional pieces anymore, this is just something new, something exciting. Once the series is done, it's done...there will be no more made in this size and style....I may move onto another size, I may not...you never know.

So with that decided, I just had to come up with a number...do I make 1000...? No, that seems like too many, I have slight ADD, and getting to 1000, well I am afraid I will grow bored halfway through...so, instead of 1000, I will do 500.

Now, they won't be happening all at once, I am a girl after all, not a factory...but expect to see them in my shop starting on Friday, I will list the first one(s).

SO there you have it...and the images today are a few more of my new 500 pieces series.

here's some pretty....

I think somewhere between having an artistic breakthrough and a breakdown....these new pieces (which a re limited edition prints) were born.

do you like them? They are still very new for me, I feel exposed and raw as they are not my "normal" style pieces.

so all you mommies out there, did you have a nice Mother's Day? I had a quiet day as my dear bubs was at work, but I did get a sweet gift and card from my puppy Scribble (yup, I'm one of THOSE people now). I spent the day watching Titanic and crying my fool eyes out, because sometimes you just need to cry while watching a sappy movie.

I also spent a good part of the day listening to tornado sirens and warning from the newsfolk that is was "time to get in the basement".

So all in all it was an oddball day.

I did get to have cake and ice cream though, which was pleasant.

oh....and I really, really have to give a huge (post) birthday shout out to Jody, who I adore!!! Love you birthday girl!!

what's new?

Here are the latest Limited Edition Prints available in my shop, they are VERY limited!!! I hope you like them.

yesterday was a wee day off of sorts, filled with lots of errands and I will admit, some ice cream, and a dog grooming visit for my little Scribble.

I have to wonder, why a dog so small has such expensive hair cuts.

I think he watches too much America's Next Top Model and Project Runway with me.

up all night day 3

sorry for the no show the past few days, you see once again Scribble is sick, or I should say, was sick.

It started late Saturday and was horrible, he was up all night as were my bubs and I with him....constant barking and growling. We spent the night all curled up on the couch with him...Sunday he was feeling better but not great and once again Sunday night rolled around and he was up all night barking and I came to sleep on the couch with him.

yesterday (monday) he seemed good, back to normal Scribble behavior, full of energy and love, so trust me it was surprising to be woken up at 1:00am with barking....which lasted all night.

I think now he is just spoiled and wants us to be with him downstairs on the couch, all sleeping and watching old movies, like a sick kid who hated being sick but still does not want to go back to school.

so that is the past few days, he is asleep now and I took a nap for an hour...though I was guilt ridden the whole time, as I know my bubs is at work...not able to nap, so really it's not very fair, for me to be sleepy sleeperson while he is at work. So now I am up and out of bed and starting my day.

so if any of you know how to get a puppy to stop barking all night that would be really appreciated as well.

ice coffee in the mornings

I'm drinking ice coffee in the mornings now....it makes me so happy, it seriously does. There is just something about the color of the light in the spring and summer that makes me need to have cold caffeine instead of hot. Even when I am cold and have to grab an extra sweater, I still need my iced drink. That's when it becomes official for me, Spring hits the moment I can barely stomach to drink something hot.

Wednesday was a great day, my hubsbubs and I walked into town for ice cream and then went to the record store which is very sadly closing its doors tomorrow. While there we found some gems, mainly the trifecta of amazing (horrible) records and that is "The Kids From Fame" volumes 1-3.

So HOT!!!

Now mind you, this is not the soundtrack to the movie, but the 3 soundtracks to the tv show Fame. I LIVED for that show when I was a kid, and to this day I have to say it is in my top 5 tv shows of all times. Was it horrible...yeah, probably it was.

it doesn't matter, I can;t see boys in leg-warmers dancing through a school hallway without getting a little weak in the knees.

I think they should get some of these people for Dancing With the Stars, I know "Leroy" is just a homeless coke addict now, I think it would be a good vehicle for him.

SO, other than Fame records, what have I been up to??? Well, I got a ukulele book and I have started to (try) and teach myself some cords, I am working on the first page now, and I have to say.....it's really hard, the instrument is so small that putting my fingers on the strings without hitting any of the other strings is going to be a hard skill to learn, but I will...eventually.

I have also been working some (obviously), and gearing up for some commission work and other projects....trying to stave off this summer slowness on etsy and hope for the best.

Last summer things still remained pretty steady for me, thankfully...but now I am not so sure, the economy is bad and I am a little worried. I keep having nightmares that I am working at Starbucks and people are ordering things I don't understand, and I end up crying while manning the drive though.

it's an odd panic, really.

oh, and before I forget....there is something exciting brewing, a really wonderful jewelry artist has asked to license my work to use in her designs, I am sending some things off to her today so hopefully really soon there will be pieces in her shop. We will be collaborating on some one of a kind pieces as well as others, so if you are interested, let me know or let her know....her name is Lori and is the mastermind behind the Heartworks By Lori shop.

so here I am, after taking yesterday "off" to celebrate my one week wedding anniversary with my bubs...and by celebrate I mean, take care of Scribble who is slowly but surely getting better, though I think his medicine is making him a little "slow", having the traditional one week of marriage meal of macaroni and cheese and dessert at the Dairy Queen, and then....SHOPPING, not fun shopping just shopping.

we needed a vacuum.

so there you have it, a slice of wedded bliss.

As I sit here and type I keep thinking, what to write, what to write.

Do I obsess over America's Next Top Model, do I talk about the obsessive "man crush" my bubs has on Billy Zane???

(that one I think I should wait for a celebrity letter for)

Or should I blah, blah about what's new in my shop, well that one you can see the photos of, so there is no need to go into details, right? I mean you can go to my shop and see details.

No.....I think importantly I need to talk about this....I have spring fever.

yup, sad but true.

This week is a rare and sunny one here in Columbus, so with the sun, I have lost all desire to work, I just want to nap lazily and have lemonade...sit on my porch swing and wear skirts and walk to Starbucks....

Yes, those are the things I want to do, sadly.....we of course have no money for this life of leisure I am craving in my soul, the wedding and surrounding expenses to a toll, and now it's back to the "grind", OK...I am not complaining my "job" is a dream...making pretty things in my studio and getting to visit with my puppy on my breaks.

Oh, I am approaching my 2 year Etsy anniversary!!!!
