I'm feelin it this morning....

morning campers...

so, I am going to be very very truthful with you this morning, this blog entry...well, this is a tough one for me.

You see last night we went out to celebrate my darling bubs birthday, and can I tell you...I believe I am still feeling the effects of the very strong Seven and Sevens I was drinking.

We went to Bernies last night, for those of you now in the know....Bernie's is the Columbus version of CBGB's except there is no gift shop, and 90% of the bands are terrible, just terrible.

Though last night was a rarity, some friends were playing there (and they're actually good) and also my bubs played a few songs with them in the middle of their set. So, really that's why we were there (and the ton of people that showed up to see my bubs play, as there were more people to see him than to see any of the bands).

So you see now I am feeling really tired, old actually. My ears are still ringing from the bad music, my throat sore from screaming over said music, and mostly my eyes are sore from seeing some of the dirty gutter punks all whored up and making out with the homeless men for fun.

I wish that was an exaggeration, but no....people do really tongue kiss the hobo's at Bernie's.

lol

all in all though it was a great time, and so wonderful to see my bubs with "his people" again...though any time we go to Bernie's it kills any desire in us to have a club again...as sometimes we miss it, but then after seeing all those people and sitting through all the crap....we realize we're way better off now.

So how are all of you?? Peachy I hope.

ok, so a couple things....

1- I am really close to hitting the 1500 sale mark in my shop, which is really unreal...I just hit 1400 after all, or so it seems.

2- I am still trying to figure out my halloween costume...now my choices are; Wonder Woman, Little Red Riding Whore, Naughty Candy Striper (I think that's actually called a Candy Stripper), and some sort of winged thing...less fairy and more arch angel.

sigh, I am open to suggestions.

ok, now I am in desperate need of more coffee and something, anything to take away the pain in my head.

(image today is of a new collage that is in my shop)

short bread cookies for breakfast

why oh why does the weekend have to be over....why do the days off with my bubs fly by so fast, and now I am here all alone...

you see it's dreadfully hot today complete with air quality alerts and the whole none yards...you see my work room has no air conditioning and once the lights are on to work I quite literally cook myself in the heat....also it makes it near impossible for paint to dry, and seeing as I am so impatient I keep messing with things until they are just that...a mess, and lumped into a large pile of things never to see the light of day again.

so my plans for today....basic hiding out in my cool bedroom with the computer, package some stuff, and try not to breath any bad air. I will honestly try to get out and do a little creating, but already I am feeling unmotivated when I go in the other room, like walking head first into a solid wall of heat.

so I sit and I wait for the impending blackout....as once it gets over 90 here in Columbus the power tends to get "spotty" flickering on and off many times a day, until the inevitable longer blackouts...

So my bubs and I had a wonderful weekend for us...just lots of us time complete with drinking drinks outside when the horrible neighbors were not home...we even got to go on a field trip to the movies last night with our friend Clemencia, we went to see.....

TRANSFORMERS!!!

now, I am not overly a fan of giant robots doing their giant robot thing, but that movie was mindless and ridiculous fun for me....maybe it was the drinks and loads of sugar that gave me such a high....but truthfully I think it was the best of the silly summer blockbusters so far...except Nancy Drew which was the perfect movie ever.

how were all of your weekends???

today's photos are....A collage called "The Fury Of Sunsets", as well as one of my double sided pendants called "The Ghost Orchid" which is based on the book I am currently reading (and almost done...of the same title).

wish me luck in the heat today!

when is the last time I did work?????

good morning!!

Thank you to all my New York readers who read through my pile of hate yesterday, it is all tucked safely away inside my head again, so no fears.

How are you all?

So yesterday was a day off for Keith and I...well day off being all relative as there was tons to do, but there was also a bunch of time that I spent on the couch reading comics...

so this is how the day went.

Got up, wrote hate mail to Derek Jeter as my bubs got ready to go meet the UPS man and get our comics before heading to the old comic shop to see if they need help (they didn't...YAY) so he came home, we went through our order, dividing up what is just his, just mine, ours, and our friend Steve's. Once the division was done I noticed that on top of my pile was Strangers in Paradise #90...the very last issue of that book...ever.

This is when I start crying a little. I go to the couch and read the book, tears in my eyes the whole time....none of it even sinks in, so I have to read it again, then fully calm down, then read it one more time.

It was beautiful and a part of me will die every time I think that it will never come out again.

sigh....

We then read a bunch of other comics in a big binge (I never said I was not a dork). Once done I gathered up a small group of collages and headed over to The Frame Station to drop off work.

Once outside I realize it's hot...yucky hot...ugh.

So we make the trip over and once we get there, well I want to make an ok impression on these people, so I turn to my bubs and ask what I always ask..."Am I shiny" and his usual reply "I don't know what that means" (it means for the record...is my nose shiny, so I need powder). I flip down the mirror and yes...I am shiny, in fact I am sweaty....no good.

I quickly powder and we head in...my hair is both fuzzy with humidity and flat with heat...no, no no!!!

So I get there and the owner Melinda is wonderfully nice, and I also get to meet in person Megan from Moogan's Creations. Now, I read Megan's blog so I know she is funny, and smart, and I have lurked in her etsy shop so I know she is talented...but I did not know how adorable she would be...and there I am, with fuzzy flat hair, and all sweaty.

(yes, these are the things I think about)

So, work is dropped off, and then my bubs and I are on to the next errand, picking up prescriptions at the Pharmacy...and the usual "No, I don't have insurance" and the pity look from the pharmacy.

I know, I know, I need insurance but you see, I'm a starving artist.

so we head home for a bit, a late lunch and then I head over to the comic shop to meet Steve so we can be geeks for an hour or so...I know our conversations are probably only interesting tot he two of us, but trust me they are VERY interesting to us.

then Keith comes to the shop and we hang for a bit...he is going back and forth about playing at the Treehouse, he wants to and he doesn't...you see last week was not fun, and it was so hot...we would just go to bed.

But, we decide to go, hell...I could use a drink and I know he could too. SO we get there very early so we can ease into the night and that way my bubs can play early in the night and then we can leave.

So several drinks into the night I have this profound realization while reading the personals in the "Other Paper", more specifically I am not reading the Men Seeking Women, or Women Seeking Men, or Men Seeking Men, Or Women Seeking Women.

no I am reading the best part of the newspaper...I am reading "Other Variations" such as this little gem

"BABY ME, cross dressing adult baby willing to try anything new, open minded and willing to please"

or this

"Old Fashioned Spankings mature discreet PWM will administer to women of any age for discipline, stress relief, or pleasure"

I could go on and on....so my thought was, if the art thing does not work out, that I could read these ads to the blind, maybe that is my calling (or maybe that was the whiskey drinks talking...it is hard to say).

So my bubs played first and he was wonderful, and as we were about to bolt out of there, we noticed that the next act was not just a sad man with a guitar, but a three piece band out of Montreal (love the Canadians!) with a stand up base and a laptop.

we were intrigued so we stayed are were treated to the sounds of "Ghetto Pony"

they were fantastic, seriously I cannot rave enough, we even bought their cd. They were just 3 skinny white Canadians playing the coolest geek rock I have heard in well, forever....picture Weezer but more funk to it.

So you have to go to their myspace and listen to them, for serious...they are that cool.

After that we meandered home...long day.

Today there are things that must be done...I must package stuff, I must make new things not only do I really want to but my shop looks sort of sad right now.

Oh, and for those of you interested in pocket mirrors, they were shipped out yesterday which means they should be here on Saturday....now we have the mean cheese but I might be able to list some on Saturday night, watch the blog for more details, I will lit a couple each day.

OMG this post is so long, I am dreadfully sorry but I am very wordy today...ok truthfully I know I should be working out but but if I am doing this that means I am not doing that.

no one likes to do Cardio when it is already very hot at Chateau Stiletto.

sigh...big giant sigh....

oh, and the picture today was a pendant I made a few days ago, it is for sale in my shop, and it is Virginia Woolf

Photos of the Convention, my bubs, a bear, Aquaman, and a purse

I figured I should start with a "jazzy" photo just to grab your attention, this is my friend Scott, he is a costume designer and runs the costume contest at the show....I know I am getting ahead of myself....so here goes, in order.....

This is a short but sweet photo journal from my trip to Pittsburgh for the comic convention. We stopped at a welcome center once we hit PA, it was a little before 6:00am and I had been up since 3:00...so please forgive how awful I look.
At the rest area there was a stuffed bear, so I knew I needed to have my picture with it, we tried and tried to get a good one, I wanted one with me that looked like I was riding the bear through the wild...but the woman manning the rest area desk gave me "the look" that said, "bitch, don't you climb on that bear", so this was the best I could get, but please know that I suffered for this photo...I am allergic after all.
This is a random fat man sleeping on the floor at the convention...you see it's moments like this that I realize that all comic book stereotypes do come from someplace.

This is a photo I took for my friend Aaron, this is the view from my hotel room, of the Monroeville Mall....many of you may know this as the mall where they filmed the original Dawn Of The Dead....it is known around the world as "Zombie Mall"
This is me and my bubs....we had already had a couple drinks and were getting ready to get a taxi into the city for even more drinking and eating...wonderful!!!
Look how cool these drinks are, they are actually called "cocktails by Jenn" I just had to have them and they come with little matching straws to go with each drink...in truth they are not that great, and sort of pricey...but I will most likely buy them again, just based on cute factor.
this is a photo of my bubs pretending to be all business at the hotel, though it just looks like random hotel nonsense in front of him, I assure you that those are in fact important business papers.
And last but not least....my new Dior.

Diana got the bag a few years ago when she was overseas, and she loaded up on Gucci and Dior and new she would eventually give them all as gifts eventually....sigh...isn't it pretty?

wow, sorry the photos were not that exciting, they seemed more thrilling to me when I was taking them...

alas, no.

don't forget to check the post below this one to get the winner of the contest.

a little of this and a whole lot of that.

morning strangers

oh, thank you all for playing along with the letters, I especially loved Karen Beth's letter to Quentin Tarrantino this week, especially the part about him being "gnomish".

good adjective.

ok, so this morning I am in a total haze....every Wednesday I go out with my bubs to a bar, the place is great, the bartender awesome...it's all good.

Except...the bar has just that...a giant old tree growing through the building, yes...through the building. I should bring my camera to get a photo of me and the tree...but anyway.....I digress.

For those of you who know me, you know that I am the queen of all things "allergy related". Which in short means I really, really, really belong in a plastic bubble.

So, being anywhere that a tree is growing, not so good, especially in Spring, also they still allow smoking in said establishment....since there is a "state wide smoking ban" I am not sure how this works...but who am I question such things.

Anyway because of said environmental hazards by the time we leave there at 1:00am ish I am always an allergic mess, having to stay up until 3:00 or so in the morning constantly sneezing and waiting for the few whiskey drinks I had to wear off so I can take some allergy medicine without fear of dying in my sleep, like poor dead Anna Nicole Smith.

so, my point being...if I seem "fuzzy" this morning, that is why.

So, last night while at said establishment, we were "lucky" enough to see some people perform that we missed last week, this couple is like the very opposite of everything I like...the woman, had giant 1980's hair, a tank top, plastic pants, and a giant Native American Inspired necklace, and her playmate was all decked out in white pants and a white sweater....she was all slutty and dancing around like she has seen too many Guns and Roses videos and she is channeling her inner Axel Rose....but to my surprise when they started singing.....THEY WERE CHRISTIAN ROCKERS!!!!!!!!!!

aaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

since when is dressing like a whore part of the praising Jesus thing?

Am I missing part of the Easter ritual...? Am I?

So anyway, it was a horrible train wreck, Keith could barely look at them, i on the other hand could not look away....eeek.

I intended to blog today about the wonderful mail and not so wonderful mail I have been getting this week, but I think I will save that for tomorrow as I am still waiting for some goodies to arrive that have not.

It's strange, I ordered a bunch of magazines off ebay, 2 are shipping from within the US, and another from Greece...the one from Greece got here, and not the ones from the US....

our post office system sucks, that is all I have to say about that.

so anyway, more on the "mail orgasm" tomorrow.

So the other day it was 80 degrees and then yesterday it started to snow, and is borderline painfully cold....

Though, some of you know I have a weakness for Spring Snowstorms, it seems only fitting that I listed this piece, it was done in conjunction with the Creative Challenge on Etsy.

the theme this week was to do something based on a secret about your self. (sorry for those of you who read this story on the forums, but I felt I should put it here too).

Several years ago I flew to Columbus for the first time to be with my bf for a visit, I had at that point in time known him for 12 years and we had been breaking each others hearts that entire time.

When my visit was done, it was near impossible to leave, and to say goodbye...we were in my hotel room and I refused to let him bring me to the air port, I refused to even really say goodbye. In fact after hours of crying I basically told him he just needed to go, or else I would not be able to leave and go back home (something I felt I needed to do).

SO he left....and I sat in my room and realized I had made a mistake, I left the room and ran to try and stop him but it was too late, I was standing outside on an early spring morning, and it was snowing.

When I got back to NH (my home) I called him and told him that I was coming back to Columbus and I was never going to leave again.

We have been together since.

I have never told anyone that story.

The piece is titled "Into You Goes Everything I Know"

ok, now I really must dash off, I have a ton of nonsense to do and my day is going to be completely thrown off because I have to go to the dreaded doctor later on today.

yuck.

the saving point of today.....I am working on 2 new block sets that I am very excited about...

Creative Blocks And A Plan To Take Over The World

that's too funny, when I typed that title I imagined that I was the Brain on that show "pinky and the Brain"...does anyone remember that?

anyone? anyone?

ok, moving on....Good morning!!

So I am off to late late start this morning as I could hardly drag myself out of bed, even the bubs slept in with me until about 7:30 before he dashed out...thankfully he made coffee before he left or I would have had no incentive to get up.

I can almost hear my drunken Grandma right now calling me a "lazy bones"

Last night I had a meeting of the minds and artistic summit with the very talented Miss Jennifer Kerr, we actually went high class last night and went to McCormick's, in hopes of getting my bubs discount, which didn't happen so he is going to yell at them today.

The night was a much needed night out, and it was fun to be able to chat with someone about all things collage, mixed media, etsy, and starving artist related.

We started a game plan people so you better watch out,, we're going to first take over the city...then the damn world, like the Olsen Twins. Except instead of hot fashions and handfuls of cash we're armed with collage supplies and canvas...

In all seriousness, it was a much needed reprieve from the daily hermit life.

So I have been struggling with a bit of a creative slump for a little while now, it is almost intangible...I can't figure out what it is.

A couple weeks ago everything I looked at was inspiring to me...and then last week and into this week it has been a little harder.

So, I took some wonderful advice from someone and tried something new....to cure my creative block, I decided to make...blocks.

I am now totally in love with them and plan on making more. I can just imagine them in little groups on a desk or shelf, I love to rearrange them in different order, just doing that makes the pieces tell a different story, I know I am totally geeked up by it, but I have not been this excited about a little artsy something since I started doing art cards a couple years ago....well actually I got all excited about pendants the same way too.

So anyway, the set that I have featured today is called "A Slightly Hinted At Memory" and it's available in my shop.

I also received in the mail last night....the Etsy Collaborative Journal....it is an ongoing art journal project, so I need to get the creative juices flowing for that too.

ok, darling ones, get your thinking caps on, tomorrow we write our letters to celebs, again I am a bit torn on who I want to write to, right now it's a toss up between Martin Scorsese and Giselle.

As The Oscar High begins to fade...

Morning strangers.

How was your weekend????

As you know we had the lil cheesy herself, the one and only mean cheese...and let me just say for the record that this weekend she was all mean and all cheese (also 100% adorable so that makes up for it).

She has been sick for the past week and in the hospital so I think she was just feeling stir crazy and all fired up with "piss and vinegar" and my Dad would have said.

She was on a rampage through the house, like Godzilla....it was almost frightening. This weekend Keith and I were hit, things were thrown at us, I had food and medicine spit onto me, oh and she got up at 3:00am on Sunday morning....

so needless to say when it was time for the Oscars last night I did not have it in me anymore to get all glam for the event, though in my head...well I was just fabulous.

My bubs watched the awards with me, and the strange thing is...that just him being there meant the world to me...sure he was working on stuff but just having him there making fun of everyone, made me realize yet again how we are supposed to be together.

I had the bubs on Bradgelina look out, as I was prepping some canvases for work today...sadly they appeared to be a no show.

And I hate to say this as it is against almost everything I believe in, but Penelope Cruz looked Beautiful last night, her Versace gown was like something ripped from a fairy tale, normally I loathe her as I can never forget the horrible relationship with Tom Cruise or the fact that it appears to me that one of her eyes is larger than the other...like a Picaso painting....

sorry, I digress.

she looked beautiful, much to my chagrin I cannot say the same thing for Nicole Kidman, or Anne Hathaway, even Cate Blanchet seemed slightly "off", it made me feel better for not dressing up.

As a special treat during the ceremony I drank Cherry Fizz wine coolers...lol, can you believe it? Wine Coolers!!!

I felt like I was in high school again and had snuck out to the cemetery to drink wine coolers and just lay in the grass and look up at the clouds and just let my mind get all dreamy and slow...thinking about how all I ever do is feel like I am homesick for something that does not even exist.

Does that make sense?

probably not, but then again, I can seem senseless at times.

I have a bunch of stuff I need to get finished today, a beautiful commission project that I am doing for the talented Tanekeya, as well as photograph and list some new pieces for my shop, as it has been a while since it was stocked up full, I have some wonderful new little lovelies today, lots of vintage ladies and some other beauties...maybe later I will add some photos, or I will list photos tomorrow....or if I am too lazy you can visit my "ye olde etsy shoppe" to see them.

Thanks to the lovely Tara and Michelle who bought some of my new vintage image pieces just mere seconds after they were listed, you are both so adorable.

The piece I am showing today is brand new and just listed last night right before the Oscars...It is called "Such a Long Way From Home"...please note that the color is eerily similar to Cherry Fizz wine coolers....

coincident? I don't think so.
