Decidedly less glamorous...

301....it does not sound nearly as cool....Aw, oh well.

so, the contest is ongoing throughout the weekend all you have to so is comment or buy something in my shop.

SO I know yesterday I was hyping the new rings, stickers, and buttons....I thought they would be here yesterday but it is looking like later today...

anyway I am hoping to have a couple things listed for the sns (Saturday Night Special) tonight but we will see...one new thing I will have is......

sets of blank cards (greeting, not playing), I was up late making these, after taking my time (obsessing) over which images worked together best for 5 card series, they will be posted later today I need to take some photos first. I decided to try a couple sets and see how they worked before delving in for more....I love them, but then again I am a card junkie...like actual junkie, I blame years of working in retail very close to a Hallmark, then going to school in a museum, (don;t get me started on museum gift shops, I love them and all the cards.

ok, so I am getting sidetracked.

look for cards later...probably mid day, possible other accessories might be added late today, I will update the blog if they arrived and are listed.

as for right now, I just want to thank you all for making the blog such a pleasure to write, your comments, emails, and just all around awesomeness make this daily blogging "chore" actually be a lot of fun.

images today are a couple of my newest collages that are available in my shop.

happy saturday!

(edit- my fist set of blank greeting cards are officially up in my shop, and also now pictured here in the post)

And the rest of the weekend went somehting like this...

Thanks for all the great comments yesterday!!! It was almost as fun as going to the fair again...:)

So, on Sunday my bubs and I got......the key to the new house so we could go in and take measurements and what not. On our trip inside....I was once again in aw of the space...lots and lots of wood, and lots and lots of windows...

The kitchen is small but adorable and the new floors have this rustic old stone feel. The living and dining rooms are big and have hardwood floors, there is a French Glass door off the dining room which leads to the sun room, which is tiny and we will be using it as the play room for the mean cheese. The front porch is done and the porch swing is up...upstairs I have commandeered the large master bedroom as my studio, as most of my waking hours will be in it, and figured we could have one of the smaller back bedrooms for us...

Oh my new studio is divine with more than enough room for my computer, my art desk, a 4 foot table with the light box etc, my bubs' drawing table, a book case....and even my exercise bike. The closet in the studio is a huge walk in, so I have also claimed that closet as mine as well.

I felt like an old timey explorer, "finding" things and claiming them in the name of my country.

So we got measurements of the windows because there are so many of them...and then proceeded to go looking for 27" blinds....well let's just say that Target, Meijer, and Big Lots have all been wiped out of 27" blinds...and we still don't have enough.

We went back to the house and my dear bubs started to hand the blinds....well, blind...singular, as the windows are so tall and the ceilings are so high it was a near impossible task considering he and I am the two most un mechanical type people in the world, we are like the opposite of being handy.

So after a long time, and a lot of swearing and banging about...we decided to call it a night at the new place, our goal is to do one or two loads of stuff every day, we will work there most of tomorrow and then next Wednesday is the "official" move day....I say official because that will be the day I move my studio and work stuff, and that is the day that (cross your fingers) that the phone line and most importantly my DSL will be hooked up at the new Chateau Stiletto.

So after as weekend filled, just filled to brim with stuff....my bubs and I decided to sit down and watch a movie...Capote, which he bought me as a special treat.

ok, now bear in mind that my bubs is not really a fan of 90% of "my" movies, the ones that are overly intellectualized and filled with long camera shots and tons of silence....where the characters are just torn to shreds emotionally in every scene...

SO anyway, we settle in with some (well deserved) ice cream and put in the dvd....now I will not spoil Capote for anyone who has not seen it, but I will describe the opening.....lots of black screens, coupled with long still shots of the Kansas landscape.....haunting music is playing...more darkness...more landscape, it is beautiful, serene and somewhat frightening....at this moment in time, I am already madly in love with the movie.

I look to my bubs who lets out an audible sigh of disgust, I give him "the look" and he settles down.

Scene change....New York, it's a party and (the brilliant) Phillip Seymore Hoffman is portraying TRuman Capote...in the most dead one version of him I could even imagine. Now please keep in mind that Capote had a very hight pitched voice, and a lisp, he seemed to me, always to be part of one of the eccentric characters he had created.

anyway.....he starts to talk, and my bubs has this look on his face...and I can tell he's not pleased, not at all.

bubs- I'm not sure about this...what is this about

me: Sigh....it's about Truman Capote and when he wrote In Cold Blood

bubs: Kaputznick...(he is making fun of the name Capote now), I thoughhe was Russian

Me: ssshhhhh!!

bubs- I don't think I want to watch it, it's not my type of movie

me - Oh My God!!! I watched a 3 1/2 hour movie about TEXAS with you...TEXAS (I have nothing against Texas, besides that our President is from there...oh and the movie I am referring to is "The Alamo" with John Wayne)

me- If I watched that you can watch a movie about a gay writer who goes to Kansas to write about a double murder, you can do that for me!!!

bubs- fine

2 hours later, we had finished the movie and my darling bubs liked it, a lot....I knew he would.

so, that was the rest of the weekend....

oh and before I forget and get sidetracked with other tasks, I NEED to thank two wonderful people...I received in the mail yesterday some wonderful things....I should have photographed them, but I did now...

anyway, a wonderful woman from Portugal named Adelia sent me, some antique postcards with beautiful handwriting , she also sent a long some of her origami....it was amazing, the type of treasures that when you open them the rest of the world seems to get very quiet and fuzzy.

THANK YOU Adelia....you are an amazing muse!!!

The second thank you goes out to TARA!!!!! I received two boxes from her yesterday, one was filled with clothes...um yeah....Tara is the best, who does not love getting clothes!!!! ad in the second box was a pair of shoes that she had never really worn because the heel was too high, and you know me and high heels....it was great.

So, Tara...thank you so much, it was like Christmas!!!

OK now I seriously must get some work done, the image today is of a new piece just listed in my shop last night it's called "You and Me Sipping Vodka and Soda"

Because I Am Spolied Rotten

What a wonderful bunch of celeb letters yesterday, I particularly felt a connection to Moogan's letter to Kathy Griffen...as I have been thinking all of the same things about her poor plastic ridden face.

ok moving on from there...

How are you all? I personally am a little worse for wear today after deciding last night (late) to head over to the Treehouse to watch their open mic, my bubs was up in the air about whether he wanted to play and basically decided that if he could get on sometime around midnight it would be a go...alas by the time we showed the first slot was 12:45...so we just settled in with our friend Ken and decided to stay and watch him perform his punk rock new wave set...which we had never seen, and was by far the highlight of the night.

You see, last night was one of those nights that everyone who performed with a few minor exceptions...all seemed miserable, playing that "I'm too cool to care about the audience" card...all on stage, eyes closed and lost in some sort of haze of pretension...it was sort of sad...until our friend Ken got up and played and though his music was crazy and unlike anything anyone was hearing there...he was enjoying himself, he was actually...dare I say...smiling.

Oh the the horrors....maybe he did not get the memo that you are supposed to be ultra sad in order to be taken seriously...

When did it become wrong to have a good time, to enjoy what you do? Why and when did jaded hipsters become the status quo?

ok, speaking of being happy.....last week a certain bubs (that would be my bubs) decided to get me a present for hitting the 1000 sale mark...he gave me a choice, either Season One of Beverly Hills 90210, OR Season one of Project Runway....

what???

hiw can he make me chose between those two, it was like damn Sophie's Choice, it was that difficult, so in a moment of pure emotion I sort of screamed out "Project Runway"

really looking back it's a no brainer...as a 90210 junkie and a total "Kelly Taylorphile" (new term I just made up) we all know that the good Kelly stuff does not start to happen until season 2.5, the summer she and Dylan hook with Brenda in Paris.

I know, I know I am so lame....

so back to my point, I chose Project Runway, and when he got home from the store, there was a bonus surprise....yes, another gift for me, it was a video game called "Designer's World" and sure it's made for 8 year old girls....but it looks so cool.

The point of the game is to design a fashion collection, hire your models, and have a fashion show in NYC, Milan, and Tokyo...you also have to make sure your line is doing well in stores etc.

Um, hello....that is awesome!!!!!!!!!! I have not opened it and hooked it up yet, as I know it will consume my whole world once I do.

The other day I also experienced the very rare "Mail Orgasm" you see I placed an order with my very favorite magazine crack dealer, Jody for some Japanese Vogues and Japanese Elle....but with my order she threw in a bunch of other mags too...

and I thought I was in heaven...but that very same day I also got a large box in the mail as well, my bubs giving me the look that said "what did you buy"...but alas...I was shocked too. You see I got a wonderful surprise from a dear blog reader and internet bff Tara.

This care package was filled with....Foreign Fashion magazines (drool), Griffen and Sabine Postcards (AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!), A kick ass 90's mix cd with like all my favorite Euro Brit Pop bands, some cards, some candy, and most importantly of all, a very nice long letter...I stayed up late that night very slowly going through all of the goodies from Jody and then from Tara....listening to the Smiths and the Judybats and everything felt so right.

so....with all of this cool inspiration being thrown at me....I have been working like crazy in between going out and the like...so the photos today show just a small portion of the goodies, as well as a mixed media box that I finished yesterday that is now posted in my shop.

Oh, I have babbled enough for today...catch you all tomorrow.

Notes about Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there in mom land!! (I know, I know I am one day late, but the sentiment is still there.

I was awakened yesterday by a very sweet little un-mothers day card from my bubs, thanking me for my patience and care of the mean cheese, even when she is at her meanest and cheesiest. He also signed it with wonderful little words of love, and the promise of no babies, republican or democrat (you see every day when I take my pill I refer to it as "no republican babies" because I don't want kids, and I know if I had one it would contain some of Keith's Republican upbringing...).

Anyway, I thought that the card was very sweet though I am opposed in full force to the idea of me being "a mom". I know, it's odd, as a woman I should feel that maternal pull, but I don't. In fact even when I was a little girl and the neighbor girls would all come over to play house, I was never one that fought for the right to be the mom character.

Sure, we had the little girl who wanted to be the dad all the time, and looking back now I am left wondering if you can be bisexual at age 7, if it's possible this girl totally was, as she always tried to kiss me on the mouth.

anyway....then there were the two girls who would fight, and I mean FIGHT over who got to be the mom, I can hear them now screaming at each other, one of them saying "you're toofat to be the mom" and the other punching the little blond one right in the arm.

So anyway, eventually the fight would end, one would be the mom, the other got the second most coveted role of "baby", leaving me to decide for myself who I wanted to be, and I always chose the same thing....the neighbor.

Yes, I chose to be the neighbor.

So when the other three girls were busy getting their house ready so we could start playing I was doing the same thing, in my own space.

I remember brining books and my mom's clothes and sort of setting them places in what my imagination now tells me was a cramped little artist studio.

The game was basically all the girls doing "house things" and the one being the baby doing a lot of crying, and the one being the dad coming over to my "studio" and trying to kiss me....and me swatting her away.

SO where is my point in all of this??? I guess I have no point really just....I don;t want to be a mom, but I do like getting cards.

ok, it's still early and I am typing away as fast as I can because our electricity keeps going out, and was out for a large portion of Saturday...eeek.

ok, so you are seeing all these beautiful photos and you are wondering to yourself, wow....what a beautiful little gift set, where can I get something like that???

Well my loves, this gift set was put together by the amazing Karen Beth, for my mom for Mother's Day, and let me just tell you when I spoke with my Mom yesterday she was over the moon happy, and even asked if I could mail all gifts to Karen Beth first so she could prepare them and turn them into magic.

You see, KB did all of this just after asking me some questions about my mom, what she likes, what she doesn't etc. I also know she is going to be doing theme boxes, like starter craft kits, and beginners yoga....AMAZING!! It is still up in the air whether or not she will be allowed to sell them on etsy, but I know you can contact her through her blog about it too.

I really think you should all contact her, like NOW!!! I am already planning on having her do something for my mom's birthday coming up.

ok, I could gush forever about it and her, but the short of it is, Karen Beth put something together that made my mom happy and made her feel really special, more so than I could have with just a silly card or an awkward phone call where I try to be vulnerable but we just end up fighting.

now... shop news!!!

thank you all for your nice things you said about my little attempts at drawing, I am really trying at it so the encouragement you have given me is worth more than you could know. Also, the note box I listed on Saturday sold right away, I have a new one up right now, and I am not sure when/if I will be doing more, as you see, I am low, low, low on supplies.

Speaking of supplies, I will be updating my supply shop later this morning, last time I did an update almost everything was gone right away (which was a huge surprise).

ok, that is enough babble for now.
