It's called "what not to wear" people!!

Happy Thursday

so..............I realize with the Kevin Federline letter yesterday that I neglected to tell you all about the "fashion show" with Clinton Kelly the other night at Macy's.

well, I will say this, I had a lot of fun, as it was wonderful to have a "girls night" the clothes were great....safe but great. Most of the models were wearing INC or Calvin Klein...and seeing as INC is my favorite (wearable and realistic brand) I was all set.

Clinton Kelly did what I feared (hoped) he would do...he heckled people in the audience...pulling them onto the runway and making them do the 360 and in front of hundreds and hundreds of people talked about how saggy their boobs were or how big their butt was.

The greatest is that really he could have picked almost anyone in the crowd for this, the place was filled with flip-floppers, capri pants, sneakers, and denim shirts....DENIM SHIRTS....for hells sake!!!

And seriously there is this plague going on with women over 45 in this city....here's a little advice....UNDER WIRE BRAS....seriously it will help you.

SO that being the case, I had no fear that I would be singled out and ridiculed for the public fashion flogging, leaving me broken and going home with an eating disorder and a complex...I was an INC scoop neck shirt, black and white with an almost Pucci inspired pattern with wonderful sleeve detail, I was wearing a black a line skirt and boots, and my killer faux croc handbag..so I was set.

Any way you could tell we were at a low brow Ohio fashion show because before it started the dj played the theme to the Ohio State Buckeye's....which made the crowd of sad fashion don't just go crazy...(seriously there was hooting and hollering), and also in a very Ohio fashion there were cookies served at the show.

COOKIES.

FASHION SHOW

COOKIES!!!!!

yeah, you should be feeling shocked, I was shocked.....now it would be a lie to say I did not partake of the cookies, they were huge and I stalked the refreshment area like a lion trying to eat a yummy gazelle so I could get a fresh cookie not yet manhandled by the denim shirted mafia.

So that was that, Clinton Kelly was charming in that "way" of his...he did notgive out too much real advice, nothing most people who care about how they look don;t already know. I was glad he was not focusing on what fashionable things you should wear, but mostly on figuring out clothes for shape...

he is very good at making sort of dumpy people feel like they are not as dumpy as they think they are.

SO....fashion fashion fashion....or something like it.

Now, I am thrilled for Columbus Fashion week, because my friend Debbie will def. come with me, already understanding how serious I take it all....

so, that's that. I have lots of important things to say, but now I feel I have been babbling for quite sometime...you all don't need to hear my rantings about anything else for today.

so I will leave you with that, and some pictured of some pretty things, that can be found in my shop.

when Thursdays feel like Mondays

hello darling ones

well yesterday was over in a flash and I did nothing that I "thought" I was going to do...just a lot of home time, then reading a lot of comics and prepping of some new art cards and a new canvas piece.

I am really loving making art cards again.....there was a time that I was just burnt out on them, but as of right now, I love them...I think it is helping that I am making them in a series....and though I do not list them as such, just knowing the story in my head of these pieces is really helping...

so much babble right off the bat...

sorry I am still half asleep.

So yesterday during letters to celebs day...one of my most favorite co-horts left a comment with a great idea....next week will be "Letters FROM celebs"...yes that's right...it's time to roll play, so get your thinking caps on now.

So yesterday as I said was a "day off", though we did not do much, I did get to go meet my wonderful friend Steve for a bit, and see some other friends at the same time...then bubs and I decided to go and have a Starbucks date...in reality my bubs does not really care for Starbucks though I was whining all day that I NEEDED a "tall, skinny, iced, white chocolate mocha"...so he finally relented.

So before we hit Satrbucks we went to Barnes and Noble...so I could look at the magazines (I know, like I need any more magazines. But when I was there, I found....my new favorite magazine (besides Vogue Nippon), it's called Androgyny Magazine and it's fashion for men and women...and it's spectacular, it's even in English, but don't be fooled it's not an American Magazine as most of ours suck....it is from England and I love it...all the boys and girls look like ghosts and there is even a "dead girl/crime scene" inspired photo spread...I know, it's dark and in bad taste but....it doesn't matter, it was just refreshing to see photos that would never and could never make they way onto American Vogue or dare I say...Elle.

I swear I looked through the magazine non stop for an hour....now it is time to devour it and read...but alas, no time for that today, as I really must do some creating and then...package parcels (note the alliteration), I really wish I had a packaging elf to help me...that way I could spend the day reading celeb gossip on the internet and making stuff...and even, drawing which I am still doing, or at least trying to do...thank you to all of you who put up with frantic/negative/crazy emails from me about how I "can't" draw....all of your support means so very much.

also before I go today...one of my dearest far away friends has a birthday today, please head over to her myspace or her etsy shop (she's having a sale) and wish her a very happy birthday.

ok must consume caffeine....pronto

xoxoxo
jenn

ps- Nick because you were wondering...yes, I was a HUGE fan of "It's Your Move" but totally forgot that Justine Bateman was on an episode...I might have to borrow the dvds

Rambling and Wishing You Were All Near

Morning lovelies.

how was your weekend?

mine was sort of blah again, as some of you know we had lil' cheesy, and was sick again, in fact she had just been released from the hospital on Friday shortly before we went to pick her up. Again, I am mortified that Keith's ex did not bother to tell him.........

I could scream, in fact I did scream, you see his ex likes to keep all the misery and heartache to herself, it gives her more attention that way...

ok, sorry, this is not a place for talk of "her"...this is a place of beauty.

Needless to say the mean cheese was still not doing well, and that made for a very stressful and tiring weekend, so by the time we dropped her off I think my bubs and I both needed to get out of the house for a bit.

We went to Barnes and Noble so I could look though the magazines...Oh, it was a treasure trove of new imports, I almost died...I had a pile of magazines all around me, over $100, but then I realized...wait, what are you doing, you have no money...

so I had to tone it down, One of the Magazines I had a was a little import called "Flair " the problem was that is was wrapped in plastic and I could not see what was inside, I would have risked the Barnes and Noble gestapo and ripped the beauty from the plastic, but that's where the price was...and it was only $6.25....much better than the $18.50 for the new issue of Muse.

So I went for it and went home with Flair, all in all it was worth $6.25...though now I am aching about going back to get some more.

When out I also picked up Columbus Alive, one of the city's artsy newspapers...while reading I stumbled upon an article about Columbus Fashion Week.....

what????

Columbus Fashion Week, that's right...we have a fashion week now, this is the first one. It is all week and there are fashion shows every night.....

but here's the problem, they start at 10:00pm each night and they are $20 to get in (per person, per night). That is way too late for my poor bubs as he has to get up early, early to get to the restaurant, and I don't drive....so there's no way to get there, I especially wanted to go to Friday Night's show...

sigh....

It is time's like this that I really wish I had some friends that lived close by (that were interested in this), I have a couple friends out here, but no one that would go to a fashion week anything with me....though I am sure all of you would just jump at the chance...well, maybe not all of you, but most of you would.

right?

Oh, speaking of fashiony things, I bought the most ridiculously adorable skirt on etsy from rebecca, I can't wait to get this and wear it with a little pair of black tights!!! her skirts are adorable and they are priced so wonderfully....I could not stop myself from buying one...

It was beyond my control completely.

ok, well I really should be getting to work, I have a zillion things I feel I need to do, and a zillion more that I actually have to do, I have photos to take for crap to put on ebay (comics and such), I have to call my landlord to come and fix our dishwasher, I have packages to package, and I really need to somehow get past the creative rut I am in...somehow.

I am going to try something new perhaps...at least that is the plan. I am going to try and do a series of collage blocks that will make a mix and match piece of artwork that you can put on a desk or shelf, I am also thinking of making more match boxes, it has been ages since I have made any of those.

I do have one cool piece that I have not listed in my etsy shop yet, I love it it's called BecomingMata Hari...and I will probably list it sometime late this morning, I have been holding off listing it all weekend because I really wanted to blog about it.

ok, must dash.....I need to get of this done during the day as tonight I am having dinner with fellow mixed media artist Jennifer Kerr...we're going for cheap Mexican food...

yummers.

until tomorrow.

xoxo
