Rambling and Wishing You Were All Near

Morning lovelies.

how was your weekend?

mine was sort of blah again, as some of you know we had lil' cheesy, and was sick again, in fact she had just been released from the hospital on Friday shortly before we went to pick her up. Again, I am mortified that Keith's ex did not bother to tell him.........

I could scream, in fact I did scream, you see his ex likes to keep all the misery and heartache to herself, it gives her more attention that way...

ok, sorry, this is not a place for talk of "her"...this is a place of beauty.

Needless to say the mean cheese was still not doing well, and that made for a very stressful and tiring weekend, so by the time we dropped her off I think my bubs and I both needed to get out of the house for a bit.

We went to Barnes and Noble so I could look though the magazines...Oh, it was a treasure trove of new imports, I almost died...I had a pile of magazines all around me, over $100, but then I realized...wait, what are you doing, you have no money...

so I had to tone it down, One of the Magazines I had a was a little import called "Flair " the problem was that is was wrapped in plastic and I could not see what was inside, I would have risked the Barnes and Noble gestapo and ripped the beauty from the plastic, but that's where the price was...and it was only $6.25....much better than the $18.50 for the new issue of Muse.

So I went for it and went home with Flair, all in all it was worth $6.25...though now I am aching about going back to get some more.

When out I also picked up Columbus Alive, one of the city's artsy newspapers...while reading I stumbled upon an article about Columbus Fashion Week.....

what????

Columbus Fashion Week, that's right...we have a fashion week now, this is the first one. It is all week and there are fashion shows every night.....

but here's the problem, they start at 10:00pm each night and they are $20 to get in (per person, per night). That is way too late for my poor bubs as he has to get up early, early to get to the restaurant, and I don't drive....so there's no way to get there, I especially wanted to go to Friday Night's show...

sigh....

It is time's like this that I really wish I had some friends that lived close by (that were interested in this), I have a couple friends out here, but no one that would go to a fashion week anything with me....though I am sure all of you would just jump at the chance...well, maybe not all of you, but most of you would.

right?

Oh, speaking of fashiony things, I bought the most ridiculously adorable skirt on etsy from rebecca, I can't wait to get this and wear it with a little pair of black tights!!! her skirts are adorable and they are priced so wonderfully....I could not stop myself from buying one...

It was beyond my control completely.

ok, well I really should be getting to work, I have a zillion things I feel I need to do, and a zillion more that I actually have to do, I have photos to take for crap to put on ebay (comics and such), I have to call my landlord to come and fix our dishwasher, I have packages to package, and I really need to somehow get past the creative rut I am in...somehow.

I am going to try something new perhaps...at least that is the plan. I am going to try and do a series of collage blocks that will make a mix and match piece of artwork that you can put on a desk or shelf, I am also thinking of making more match boxes, it has been ages since I have made any of those.

I do have one cool piece that I have not listed in my etsy shop yet, I love it it's called BecomingMata Hari...and I will probably list it sometime late this morning, I have been holding off listing it all weekend because I really wanted to blog about it.

ok, must dash.....I need to get of this done during the day as tonight I am having dinner with fellow mixed media artist Jennifer Kerr...we're going for cheap Mexican food...

yummers.

until tomorrow.

xoxo

Morning, dearest...

I would totally go to the fashion shows with you! That would be such fun! We could get all 'gussied' up (that is a Southern term - feel free to use it anytime you might like to! ;) ) and have a ball!

Ah... it would be great if we were closer.

Sounds like you have a LOT going this morning. Don't work too hard!

xoxoxo... Karen Beth :)

A Columbus Fashion Week sounds awesome and it's very cool that anyone could buy tix and attend. I have gone to two shows at the tents in NYC and they were amazing but tickets are rarely sold (unless for charity) and it is generally hard to get an invite.

Atomic Geisha is showing at CFW, I read about them when they showed in NY, the clothes are a little crazy out there but it could be really cool to see on a runway: http://runwaynews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=190&Itemid=62

I wish I was there!

I find doing something completely out of the norm for myself, anything at all, helps to get some creativity back. That or, throwing in some Tori Amos and dreaming...

Sorry to hear about the mean cheese. Hope she is doing better soon.

You know I would totally go with you to Fashion Week. OMG! If they had one around here, I would totally sell my soul to go. lol. Though around here, it would probably consist of overalls and camoflauge.

I would go to fashion week with you, so long as I could make fun of the music and any really stupid clothes.

I'm sorry about the mean cheese incident. The boy should get a court order compelling notification of any hospitalizations or medical events as well as consent before non-emergent procedures. Those are pretty standard and will stop the surprises.

ben- his divorce decree states that is is supposed to be informed of everything and have copies of all medical reports sent to him...it is yet to happen, the children services out here sucks!!!!!! they leave it up to the spouses to deal with it, so technically the ex is supposed to provide all this info, the only way to get it is to threaten her with a court date...

(sigh)

You and Jennifer Kerr hang out? Etsy celebrities dining, there should be Etsy paparazzi and etsy tabloids.

Cat- lol, hardly consider myself an etsy celeb....but I do like the idea of paparazzi...

Jenn Kerr and I live a couple blocks from each other actually, though it is rare that we get to do the hang thing.

Oh you know I would totally go to a fashion show with you. I am sad you couldn't transport yourself over the sea for the preview of this exhibition!! Burlesque dancers and dressing up! I have to adjust my fabulous gold green 50' dress especially for the event.

Thanks for your input on the red dress. I do love it so much, the only problem is the cash flow, I have a very minimal amount of income at the moment, so I'll have to stick to the striped dress.

I am so jealous you have a fashion week!! I wish there was a fashion week here! I love fashion, in fact I was going to go to Borders lastnight to go buy some magazines, but then I checked the mail and there was the new Marie Claire, so it quenched my thirst for fashion for the moment!

I am sorry to hear about the cheese. Ihope she recovers soon!
