Monday Monday

Bonjour!

How was everyone's weekends? Mine was wonderful as can be...with the exception of huge car repairs and the like.

Friday was an odd day, my bubs did not go to work due to the fact that there was a strange and dangerous sounding noise in the van, so he brought it to the shop only to find out that the thing that stabilizes the van and keeps it from tipping over, had broken and needed to be repaired, the mechanic basically said had we taken a corner going over 40mph we would have flipped....so thank goodness he caught it...so now we are safe...but our little wallets have gotten a whole lot lighter.

I spent the majority of the day finishing up a commission project for someone (please see photo above), it is 18x18 and I really love the way it came out, right now it is hanging in our apartment waiting for it to be paid for and it is just lovely.

When Friday was all but said and done, my bubs and I watched the news and weather and saw that all impending rainstorms were no longer threatening the city...so we decided to go for a walk, and actually enjoy the ghetto park next to us. You see the park next door is all trashy but it does have beautiful bike trails through the woods, and like Central Park once you are on the trails there are moments when you forget where you are, it's just so desolate and lush...even the birds sound more wild and the brush is thick and jungle like.

So we were meandering through the trails something that I really dare not do alone as it gets pretty remote out there, we were about a mile or so in when all of a sudden....sprinkle...sprinkle...sprinkle....it starts to rain (of course) so we turn around, the rain is nice and soft, very refreshing....through the trees it is wonderful, and then it starts to down pour and the west nile bugs were out in force...so much for a lovely walk.

Saturday most of the day was spent working and then when my bubs came home from work we decided to walk to the grocery shop, that walk was rain free!!

Sunday though was the big day, we went downtown to arts fest, it was HUGE, I mean really HUGE, miles ans miles...though in true Ohio fashion I bet if they removed all the places selling deep fried pork something or other and fried dough products it would have only been half the size.

overall it was fun just to be out by the river, I was disappointed that there were not more local artists, and really there was only one place that made me just ache all over with how wonderful it was.

Now...this is where I would love to show you some pictures of what I bought, but my bubs has them hidden away as they will be birthday gifts for me. But...they are beautiful, two photos, black and white with portions colored. They look like everything that my dreams are...they are that fantastic.

One of them is a woman along the harbor at Carnivale, fantastic mask, very surreal and beautiful, the other piece I got is a photo of a window at Bergdorf Goodman's the display are 3 beautiful Marie Antionette inspired mannequins...I know I am not doing them justice, but they are amazing.

so after being outside so much of the weekend we stopped for Mexican at "our place" on the way home...and then when we came home we promptly fell asleep for a nap...we were eventually awakened by the dreadful neighbor girl screaming her fool head off, for a second I though she might be being murdered...but no, she was just screaming for no reason.

brat.

so that in a nut shell was my weekend.

Oh, I do have news though, thanks to very loyal blog commenter Moogan/Megan, my work will now be carried at "The Frame Station" here in Columbus...

so giant shout out to Megan, who I will have the pleasure of meeting in person this Wednesday when I bring some work in for them.

So, this is the deal...all you loyal lovely blogettes and blog misters, if there is anything you wnat from my shop let me know and I won't bring it, I will hold things and accept payments on things as well.

Oh and one more last piece of shop news....Later this week there will be small pocket mirrors/make up mirrors available in my shop. I ordered them this weekend and am already so excited for them to be here, There will only be 1 done of each design, so once they are gone...they are gone (please see the photo above for the designs) there will be 15 in all, well probably more like 14 as I think I will have to keep one for myself, right?

They were made by the same wonderful woman who made my buttons, kittycrossbonedesigns

If any of you decide to place orders for anything, tell her I sent you!!!

ok that's all for now, tomorrow I will be posting some exciting blog news and I believe I was tagged a while back for something that I never did....I should get to that too.

now I must get to work I need to make a couple things and have a long day and night pf packaging to do as well.

xoxo

minus the headache of car repair it sounds like a very lovely weekend.
I didn't make it out the arts fest this year for a few of the issues you stated. Those and due to the fatc the they tend to repeat artist or bring in new artist with similiar styles, it's a wee redundant.
Can't wait to see the goodies you snatched up and the new mirrors.
I think you need to show off the ghetto park, perhaps a nice picture of a used syringe next to the seesaws.
Looking forward to meeting you!

I thought too, it sounded like a relaxing weekend - nice.
The custom piece is stunning - I have wondered what a larger piece would look like and my suspicions are confirmed - even more gorgeous! And the little mirrors are fabu!

How big are those mirrors? They look like they could be the 3.5" size? I have some both sizes.

Congrats on being carried in The Frame Station. How neat is that!!??

The little wee mirrors are so cute too! Might have to get in on the red shoe or the trees. How big are they?

Sounds like you had a good weekend, despite being drenched. The new piece you finished up is great. Love it!

Buggers about the Van, car problems are always the most unexpected and the worse. Congrats on being carried at the Frame Station, how is the scribbles show going? Love the mirrors, your work is perfect for compact mirrors.

Don't you hate when you're forced to spend money on something as dumb as not tipping over in your car? It seems like stuff like that should be a given.

Car trouble is the worst!
Its why we got rid of the PT Cruiser,so much for my slavish attention to retro-ness! The comissioned piece is marvy!
